What is Reiki?

Reiki is a safe and natural technique that has been proven to help with relaxation and reducing the stress levels in the body.

Rei means Spiritual, Divine

Ki means vital energy, breath of life

Life energy flows throughout our bodies just like blood . When this energy is balanced, we feel great, alive and energetic. However, stress, unresolved emotions or day to day situations can cause disruption of this flow causing blockages and imbalance.

In 2007 the American Hospital Association reported that over 800 hospitals in the United States offer a Reiki treatment. As of today that number has exponentially increased due to the information available on the internet and social media platforms.

An article written in the Atlantic on April 2020 explains how Reiki once considered a mystic practice has grown in popularity and it has been accepted as a complement to traditional medicine in a VA medical center in the Northeast.

During the past two decades studies have demonstrated how a Reiki treatment can help to diminish the negative side effects of chemotherapy, the outcome of a surgery procedure and change people's perception of physical and emotional pain tolerance.

Nowadays, Reiki treatment and training are available in different hospital throughout the United States such as Memorial Sloan Kettering, Cleveland Clinic, New York Presbyterian, the Yale Cancer Center, the Mayo Clinic, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

As a Reiki Facilitator, I have been trained to understand that I am simply a channel through which energy flows, rather than the source of it. Reiki is a safe and natural technique that can be used to help relax the body and reduce stress levels. It is available to both individuals and pets and can even be received remotely through long distance sessions. Reiki can be used on its own or combined with other modalities, such as crystal therapy and hypnosis, to enhance its effects.

Reiki is often used by massage therapists and physical therapists as a complement to their work, and many other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, dentists, and social workers, may also use Reiki in their sessions. Reiki is safe to use in everyday life and can be a useful tool for promoting overall well-being and reducing the negative effects of stress.
